Common Problems with Eyelid Skin
The lid skin is very thin to begin with, but if fatty deposits begin to build up beneath the dermal layers, the upper lid can begin to fold or sag. This negatively affects the natural contours of the eyelid. The lid can become weakened due to a decrease in the amount of proteins in the skin layers, and this causes the entire lid to sag. The upper lash line also droops, and the result is a tired, unhealthy appearance.
The lower lid can sag as well. This can cause a darkening of the skin, and the affected area becomes riddled with tiny wrinkles. In some cases, the upper contour line drops, and too much of the eyeball white shows. Fatty deposits can also cause a bulging of the lid and an overall puffy appearance.
