What are the Differences Between a Traditional and Endoscopic Brow Lift?

endoscopic brow lift

As we age, wrinkles and fine lines begin to form on our foreheads. These signs of aging can make us look older, less attractive and often more stressed. Fortunately, at The Mack Cosmetic Center, our  surgeon performs endoscopic brow lift surgery in Tampa to smooth out frown lines on the forehead. This procedure can also provide an effective treatment for horizontal lines across the forehead, drooping brows, a tired appearance, deep furrows between the brows and heavy upper eyelids.

Traditional Brow Lift

General anesthesia is administered when a traditional brow lift is performed. Under general anesthesia, the patient remains unconscious and doesn’t feel any discomfort during the operation. A slightly larger incision is made across the brow a few inches from the hairline. Excess skin is removed, fine lines and wrinkles are smoothed out, and the forehead is repositioned. The incision is then sealed with sutures once the deep furrows and fine lines have been eliminated.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

General anesthesia is also administered when endoscopic forehead lift surgery is conducted. This means that the patient will remain unconscious throughout the procedure. During this procedure, tiny incisions are made along the scalp (not on the facial part). An endoscopic device is then inserted through the incisions. This device allows the surgeon to view the internal parts of the treatment area on the viewing screen. The surgeon uses another tool to remove excess skin around the forehead and to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. At the same time, the brow is repositioned. This is a minimally-invasive form of brow lift surgery and provides more natural results with minimal scarring and a better all-round post-operative experience for the patient.

Who is an Ideal Candidate?

Ideal candidates for an endoscopic brow lift are individuals with forehead wrinkles and fine lines. Ideal candidates should also be in good health and have a deep understanding of what the procedure can accomplish. Otherwise, during your initial consultation, our plastic surgeon can conduct a physical examination and assess your medical history to determine if the procedure is appropriate for you.
