Where Should I Get Juvederm? 6 Most Common Treatment Areas

Juvederm

At the Mack Center in Tampa, FL, we go above and beyond to bring you the best state-of-the-art cosmetic solutions, including dermal fillers that enhance the beauty in you at every stage of life. One of the fillers we often get asked about is Juvederm. From the creators of Botox(R), Juvederm is a popular injectable highly effective in its ability to add natural volume to key areas of the face.

A Brief Introduction

Juvederm is the first FDA approved injectable gel dermal filler. Made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that promotes hydration and adds volume, Juvederm Tampa works to create a smooth and natural-feeling addition to treated areas. It is a top choice for use in clients looking to add fullness or balance to one or more facial features.

For optimum comfort during treatment, the injectable is made with the addition of lidocaine that acts as an anesthetic. A topical numbing cream is also applied and clients experience little to no discomfort during injection.

The Best Candidate

Juvederm is a product that can be used by most people without any downside or downtime. The results are immediate, so you can see the impact of the treatment as soon as the injections are completed, which can take five to fifteen minutes depending on the number of syringes being used.

Preparation is simple and will be reviewed with you at the time of your appointment. Primarily, you should plan to discontinue the use of aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen or Motrin, as well as any supplements for at least twenty-four hours before treatment.

The Right Time

Feeling confident is a vital contributor to maintaining a satisfying life. No one knows better than you when the time is right to enhance or adjust a feature that is keeping you from stepping out with your best foot–and beautiful face– forward. That’s why we make it a priority to listen to your concerns and give you a plan that will result in your desired outcome. We understand it’s easier to feel your best when you not only love what you’re doing but also love the way you look.

Areas Where Juvederm Is Effective

Juvederm comes in various formulas and is indicated for use in most commonly treated areas of the face. If you do not see your area of concern on this list, we encourage you to talk to us and together we will determine the perfect solution for you. Juvederm works best in providing enhancements to these areas:

Lips

The lips are a sensitive area of the body, prone to showing the signs of aging early. Because full lips are a characteristic of a youthful face, lip enhancement has become a very popular choice of treatment. One reason Juvederm is recommended for plumping and defining lips is it is hydrophilic, which means it attracts water that can add to its plumping action.

There are a few different reasons our clients ask for lip injections. Older women want to have a more youthful appearance while younger women in their twenties and thirties are simply attracted to the idea of having more luscious, sensual full lips. A popular trend today for lips is the Cupid’s Bow that tips the center of the upper lip into a perky position.

You can expect lip injections to last for a minimum of six months, with some clients coming in closer to a year for their follow-up.

Mouth

Vertical lines above the mouth begin to appear due to age, and sometimes habits like smoking or excessive use of straws, both activities that force lips to pucker, can cause lines to form. Although you may see some residual improvement as a result of lip plumping, often the wrinkles themselves need to be filled. Cracks on either side of the lips can also be smoothed with injections.

Not all women use fillers for anti-aging or to get larger lips. There are both men and women with naturally uneven mouths who see excellent results from the addition of Juvederm to balance their smile.

Marionette Lines

These are the lines that run from either side of your mouth to your chin, giving a similar appearance to the strings on a puppet threaded to enable the mouth to open and close. Marionette lines form as a consequence of aging and begin to appear as early as the thirties. We strategically place the filler inside the folds of the marionette lines, expanding the crevasse and softening the appearance of your lower face.

Nasolabial Folds

Often confused with marionette lines, nasolabial folds, also referred to as smile lines, run from the nose down to the sides of the mouth. These wrinkles can occur as a result of smiling (dynamic wrinkles) and they remain when the face is at rest. A dermal filler can minimize the appearance of these lines.

We take great care in using a conservative approach to avoid creating an unwanted puffy look that can occur when these lines are overfilled; our goal is to always make you smile because of how pleased you will be with your more youthful appearance.

Acne Scarring

Extended periods of active acne or deep cystic acne can leave the skin with an uneven, sometimes discolored surface. It used to be that deep dermabrasion or acid peels were the only way to improve the skin’s surface by taken away the affected layers. With dermal filler, we can smooth the appearance of these scars by filling them in, creating a more even surface for makeup or powder application.

Wrinkles and Creases

Smile lines, or laugh lines, occur around the eyes as a result of the continuous movement of our faces when expressing emotion. Also a result of genetics and aging, wrinkle lines around the eyes can be softened with fine injections of Juvederm. This treatment is also indicated for random lines or wrinkles in the face that you might like to have minimized.

Additional Injectables and Their Application

Along with Juvederm, at the Mack Center we use all the latest and most effective products and cosmetic solutions available. To achieve your desired result, we will recommend the best match from our catalog of premiere dermal fillers and other injectables.

Voluma XC(R)

A hyaluronic acid-based formula, Voluma XC is used primarily for creating lift and volume in flattening or drooping cheeks. Voluma XC is perfect in cases of volume loss that occurs as a result of aging or excessive weight loss. The goal is always to provide a natural looking enhancement, achievable with the injection of Voluma XC to the cheek region.

Restylane(R)

A popular product, Restylane has been used for over a decade to successfully treat fine lines and wrinkles and as an effective filler for reducing the appearance of acne scars. A hyaluronic acid-based formula, Restylane is used primarily in nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and lips. Resylane-L is a form of Restylane mixed with lidocaine, a local anesthetic, for the ultimate in patient comfort.

Sculptra Aesthetic(R)

A different kind of injectable from those in the hyaluronic acid category, Sculptra is actually a product that gradually corrects facial wrinkles and folds using poly-lactic acid that promotes the creation of collagen. This product takes three treatments over a few months and approximately four months time to produce results that last up to two years.

Those with Sculptra injections will need to massage the treated area as massaging works to evenly distribute the product to encourage the best possible result.

Botox(R) and Dysport(R)

For those of our clients wanting to see their wrinkles relax and facial lines disappear, Botox and Dysport are our go-to solutions. By blocking the nerves to the muscles, Botox and Dysport restrict the action that causes creases in the forehead and wrinkles around the eyes when scowling, frowning, and smiling.

Both Botox and Dysport are used primarily in the glabella lines between the eyebrows, forehead lines and crow’s feet. They can also be quite effective in lifting brows and re-positioning lips. Used correctly, Botox and Dysport will leave you looking natural with all your expressions intact rather than stereotypically frozen and expressionless, as can occur when these products are overused or improperly injected.

As with any of these treatments, it is extremely important you go to a certified practitioner or physician to guarantee you receive expert care from a properly trained and experienced provider.

Full-Service Cosmetic Solutions

Along with dermal fillers like Juvederm and neuromodulars like Botox, we perform surgeries for the correction of conditions affecting the head and face as well as those solely performed for cosmetic purposes.

Areas of repair include earlobe tears, tearing problems, and lid trauma or lacerations. We also perform complete facelifts and both upper and lower eyelid lifts along with other medically necessary surgeries.

Full circle care means we provide coordinated treatments that can include surgery in combination with dermal injectables and other cosmetic treatments. It also means we are here for you before and after treatment to be sure you are comfortable and satisfied at every stage of care.

The Importance of Skin Care

In addition to making enhancements to your features with injectable products or through surgical facelifts and repairs, it is of equal importance that you maintain the right routine for your skin type.
