CampLIFE! in a non-profit organization that connects the families of fallen soldiers through a summer camp experience. Three weekends each year a team of dedicated volunteers come together to offer these families an incredible camp experience. As a way to inspire, encourage and use fun as a therapeutic relief to grief.
Please help Dr. Mack and his staff raise money for this great organization! Dr. Mack will donate 5% of all his cosmetic and skincare sales to the CampLIFE! organization. As patients, you will help generate funds just by getting treatments, purchasing products and/or receiving cosmetic surgery with William P. Mack, M.D. during the month of November. The organization, CampLIFE!, was founded on the principles of James 1:27 of the Bible. John and Lynette Gillis were true believers in “religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.” John took an opportunity in his life to provide a free summer camp experience to children of Methodist Children’s Home, Waco, Texas. John’s family and friends were a majority of volunteers and contributors, which provided a weekend retreat to include a full week of summer camp all in two and half days. For four years the amazing organization grew into relationships, families, friends, volunteers, and contributors. In 2002 CampLIFE! became a non-profit, 501(c)3 established, grant receiving organization that was considered a “model non-profit” by Texas area foundations and educational institutions.
Our connection with the military survivor families started in 2006. A group of military families who’ve paid the ultimate sacrifice during a commitment to our United States Armed Forces came to camp in August of 2006. The families captured heart felt admiration of the CampLIFE! Board of Directors, volunteers, and contributors by the family’s desires for unity, adventure, encouragement and trust. The immediate family members of a fallen soldier have political, social, and financial pressures that will forever remain. The soldier’s religion, finances or political views were not the deciding factor of acceptance, but his integrity to America. CampLIFE!’s integrity to the survivors of such a hero is what keeps our faith. The unity and trust that brings us together during each retreat make up the CampLIFE! Family! We do not discriminate cause of fatality, religious beliefs, political or social affiliation, but aid to the connection of these soldiers immediate family members in a summer camp setting. Our model is specific to the exclusive encouragement, adventure, and inspiration of an organization that is built and operated entirely of volunteers. Our volunteer Board of Directors, counselors, photographers, arts and crafts, logistics, and training coordinators have built a foundation of talent. We don’t own property or equipment, which allows us a diverse range and flexibility towards what the families enjoy. Thank you for your involvement, interest and/or service to CampLIFE! Without each one of the supportive volunteers, amazing survivors, and encouraging contributors through the past 10 years, we wouldn’t be able to give back and make such an incredible impact.
Campers must be escorted to camp by a parent or guardian. This allows the parents to connect with other fallen soldier families as well as provide support for each other. Currently, camp is offered in May (Mother’s Day weekend), August and November. CampLIFE! does not own property but rents an existing camp facility. In 2012, all camps were held at The Green Family camp, which is located in between Waco and Temple in Texas.
Like any other summer camp CampLIFE! just wants to bring a few days of fun to these families. Camp consist of zip lines, climbing walls, challenge courses, swimming, canoes, kayaks, kick ball, campfire and S’MORES!!
CampLIFE!, Inc. is a registered not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization. We file each year with the IRS using the post card method. All donations are tax deductible and our volunteer Board of Directors oversees that these funds are used only to support the CampLIFE! mission. For 10 years we have maintained 100% volunteer leaders and staff. CampLIFE! does not own property or fund any staff members with the donations or grants received. Our website, emails, camps, supplies, insurance, and activity equipment are what you can help support.1
