EARLOBE REPAIR ON THE RISE FOR YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

Do you remember that trend several years back where teens and young adults were stretching their lobes to hold discs and other larger ornaments? While that trend seems to be dying, it has left a lot of stretched earlobes in its place. And as these young adults enter the workforce, they’re finding that their potential employers are somewhat less than enthused about their “look.”

The best solution? Earlob repair.

Whether you spent too many years wearing heavy earrings or you were a rebellious punk rocker in your youth who is struggling to find employment today, we can help you. Dr. William P. Mack, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist who is fellowship trained and specializes in oculoplastic and facial cosmetic surgery.

The safety profile of this surgery is excellent. Dr. Mack would review any risk factors with all patients to ensure they are a good fit for the surgery and that they have the right expectations for the outcome.

The procedure would be performed in our south Tampa office and would require the use of a local anesthetic. We have found that no two cases are exactly alike and that there is no standardized method to fix the shape of a person’s ear; it simply comes down to skill. When finished, sutures are placed in the ears to complete the repair of the earlobe. Patients who wish to re-piece their ears can typically do so six weeks after the procedure.
