THE MACK CENTER RAISES MONEY FOR TAMPA BOY INJURED IN ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING

It’s been just over a year since Tyler Maddox was accidentally shot. His father worked nights at the post office and when his grandmother heard scrapes outside her door she grabbed her gun and fired a single round, shooting Tyler and blinding him.

Tyler has come a long way since that day, however.

He uses a walking stick to get around, although doesn’t typically need it at home. He still does many of the activities he enjoyed when he could see, such as playing basketball or throwing around a football. His mother said he plays video games, and sometimes even wins.

In recent months, the Skills Center, a sports-based youth development program, has held two fundraisers at the Tampa Bay Sports Youth Sports Expo.

Tyler’s parents, Reggie and Tanya, have reached out to comfort others, especially families whose children have experienced tragic accidents like Tyler’s.

And they still have faith that Tyler will see again.

During a recent visit to the doctor, Tyler revealed that he could see light. While it’s a small thing, it does help to fuel their belief that he will see again.

Throughout the month of October, The Mack Center will donate $1 from every Botox unit purchased as well as $5 for every Microdermabrasion or Peel purchase with our facial specialist. In addition, we will match any monetary donation made to The Skills Center for Tyler.
