TOP 5 SKIN CARE TIPS FOR THE HOLIDAYS

The holidays are finally here! And while that may mean lots of fun with holiday parties and other festive events, all that extra fun can take a toll on your skin. You may be staying up later, drinking more than usual and eating WAY more than normal. And yet, in spite of all that, you still want to look your best!

Fortunately, there are a few tips that can keep your skin looking its best through the season.

  1. Keep an eye on your alcohol consumption.

Unless you forego alcohol altogether, you’re most likely going to consume more than usual during the holidays, if only because of the sheer number of events you’re attending. Try to alternate alcoholic beverages with water to keep your alcohol intake low. All of that hydration will do your skin (and your body) a whole lot of good the next day!

  1. Keep up your usual skin care routine.

This one can be tough, especially if you find yourself getting to bed later than usual. Nonetheless, try not to let things slide, no matter how busy you are. Even if you don’t have time for special treatments like facials, keep up your regular cleansing, moisturizing and exfoliating routine. And just in case, keep some facial wipes on hand so you can remove makeup quickly if you find yourself especially tired.

  1. Don’t forget the sunscreen.

Whether you live in Tampa where it’s sunny year-round or Seattle, make sure that you’re applying sunscreen daily when you’re walking out the house. We recommend keeping a Sunforgettable on hand so you can grab and go or just keep one in your purse.

  1. Take time to relax.

As much fun as the holiday season can be… it can also be really stressful running from one thing to the next. Unfortunately, that stress can be reflected in all kinds of skin care problems. The best way to counter that stress? Make sure that you’re taking time to relax!

No matter how busy you are you can still fit in time for some R&R. 10 minutes of slow breathing, a long bath, some good or aerobic exercise are all good choices for helping you manage stress and avoid that frustrating breakouts.

  1. Don’t go overboard on junk food.

Try to avoid the temptation to turn the holidays into a no-holds barred sugar extravaganza and instead just enjoy the odd treat that’s high in all the things you would usually avoid. Remember, a single slice of pie or piece of candy from time to time isn’t going to wreck your skin (or your diet). Just be selective and try to not spend weeks stuffing yourself silly.
