TOP 5 SUMMER SKIN CARE TIPS

While some parts of the country are still cold, summer is in full swing here in Florida. The arrival spring and summer means you’re probably spending even more time than normal out in the sun… and that you need to take extra precautions to protect your skin… not only from the sun either, but also from the heat and humidity!

Check out these top 5 ways to protect your skin this summer!

Wear sunscreen on your face

Well you definitely knew that this one was coming! But while it’s the obvious choice when you’re at the beach and most of us are diligent about reapplying, when it comes to running errands, getting exercise outdoors, or even going to and from work, it’s easy to forget to apply.

We are completely addicted to the Colorescience Sunforgettable Sunscreen since it comes with an easy-to-apply applicator brush that makes reapplying when you’re out and about a simple task.

Protect your lips

While we automatically think of applying sunscreen to our faces, we often forget about our lips… and sun protection for your lips should be mandatory! Consider lip balm over a gloss for summer, since balms tend to hydrate more and stay on longer.

Don’t forget your hands and feet!

Your hands and feet are often dead giveaways to your true age, since we often forget about them when we are applying sunscreen daily. Invest in a hand cream that offers SPF protection and apply it at least 20 minutes before driving. Remember, two-thirds of all sun damage is incidental!

Exfoliate

Depending on your skin type, try to exfoliate either one or two times per week if you have dry skin or two or three times per week if you have oily skin. The regular exfoliation will help you shed dead skin and slough off previous sun damage, leaving your skin softer and brighter. (And of course, you’ll want to be sure to keep that fresh skin covered with sunscreen!)

Moisturize!

The summer sun, air conditioning, extreme temperatures and high humidity can all wreak havoc on your skin. Make sure you’re moisturizing before heading out in the sun and that you use a richer lotion after you’re home for the night.

Hopefully these tips will help your skin to look fresh and healthy all summer long. Do you have any tried and true methods for protecting your skin in the summer? We would love to hear them!
