WHAT ARE MY NON-SURGICAL OPTIONS FOR ANTI-AGING?

While the most long lasting option for reducing the appearance of aging in the face is the facelift, there are nonsurgical things you can do.

The two biggest genres are Botox and fillers.

Botox is that something people start to do at an earlier age and is really good for wrinkles. So if you had a deep wrinkle between the eyebrows or crow’s feet around the eye, it’s a way to help minimize those wrinkles. Botox is something that wears off unfortunately, but it’s very effective to soften the wrinkles in those areas. It’s not preventative medicine so doing it at age 20 won’t prevent you from getting wrinkles.

Fillers are for adding volume. The places you where you would typically use fillers are in the check or in the lip, typically done in the 30s and 40s because you start to lose facial fat as you age. It’s a way to non-surgically turn back the hands of time in a way that you don’t see.

There are two basic fillers.

The first are Hyaluronic Acids, such as Juvaderm and Restylane. Those are great because they’re immediate gratification so when you leave you have them in. They last about six months, although some last a little bit longer. And they’re reversible so if you hate it there’s a way to reverse what you have done.

The other kind of filler is Sculptra. People often refer to it as the liquid face lift. It adds a little bit of volume everywhere by stimulating your body to make its own collagen. You see the effect over six to eight weeks. It gives a very subtle change so it’s like waking up each day and looking just a little younger day after day.
