WHAT IS A VAMPIRE FACIAL?

Since tomorrow is Halloween, talking about our Vampire Facial seems entirely appropriate. Don’t worry, though, there will be no blood sucking involved with this treatment! Well, not exactly, anyway…

The Vampire Facial, also known as a PRP Facial, uses your own blood to prepare a product that can be injected into specific areas of the skin, helping your tissue to heal and grow new cells. It promotes new collagen to grow, regenerates tissue and helps to naturally smooth and tighten the skin. After this treatment you will notice visibly softer wrinkles and smoother skin texture.

How does it work?

A small amount of blood is drawn from you. White and blood cells are divided from the platelets and the plasma, leaving the plasma with a higher than normal number of platelets. This is why the facial is known as the PRP facial, or platelet rich plasma facial.

Skin rejuvenation with PRP can be done on the neck, décolleté, and back of the hands. It can also be applied topically and penetrated deep into the skin.

How is it different than fillers?

Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm are made of a material that  is designed to fill lines and skin folds and soften deeper lines, typically lasting anywhere from 6-18 months.

PRP, on the other hand, stimulates your OWN collagen to grow rather than treat individual wrinkles. PRP is used for volumizing faces, plumping cheek indentations and softening eye hollows. It will also improve the skin tone, tighten and add texture. It fills in areas where fillers either can’t reach or aren’t safe to use.

Are there any side effects?

Because the PEP facial uses your own blood and doesn’t contain animal or synthetic components, there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction. Minor side effects may include mild irritation, bruising, swelling, itching or tenderness at the injection site. However, these conditions typically go away within one or two days.

Do I need more than one treatment?

You may be able to achieve all your desired results within one treatment. However, this is a conversation that is best had with your physician.
