TAMPA, FL. JUNE 3RD, 2013- “A FASTER RECOVERY METHOD”- DUE TO WILLIAM P. MACK, M.D.’S EXPERTISE IN OCULOPLASTIC AND FACIAL COSMETIC SURGERY, HE WAS APPROACHED TO HELP OUT WITH A BETA PROGRAM FOR A NEW MEDICAL PRODUCT. INTRODUCING A PRODUCT THAT MINIMIZES BRUISING, SWELLING AND PAIN WITH JUST THE SIMPLE APPLICATION OF A GEL PAD. THIS PRODUCT IS A NEW WAY TO RECOVER FASTER POST SURGERY.

During the first week of June 2012, Dr. Mack was recruited by the company Cearna® out of Naperville, Illinois. Their new and upcoming product, OcuMend, is used to reduce bruising, swelling and pain post blepharoplasty.  Dr. Mack decided to join the beta program with Cearna® as he stated that “many patients complain about the constant icing post surgery, if there’s a product out there that can help with minimal ice use then it’s worth a shot.” For two weeks Dr. Mack made OcuMend available to select patients and the results were “outstanding” stated Angela Sessa, technician for Dr. Mack. “The noticeable difference between “constant icing” patients and “OcuMend/slight icing” patients is drastic! There are many great advantages but the biggest difference would be the decrease in swelling. These “OcuMend” patients look one week post-op on their first day visit post surgery.” Sessa and the rest of the staff stated that the product Cearna® has created will be beneficial to many surgeons and patients across the nation.

Dr. Mack and Media Director, Jenny Barker, stayed on top of the beta program by taking pre-op pictures and post-op pictures on day one, three and seven to share with the research team at Cearna®. On top of individual surgeon surveys for each of the 9 patients, Dr. Mack and Jenny did an extensive phone conference thoroughly discussing each of the patients results from OcuMend and rated their results compared to their previous knowledge of the “norm” bruising/swelling/pain they see day to day. The team at Cearna® were so thrilled with both William P. Mack, M.D.’s and Jenny’s knowledge and commitment that two members flew down from Illinois to further their feedback. One of Dr. Mack’s “beta patients” also got a chance to meet with the head of Cearna®, Dr. Polich, to discuss over lunch her experience with these revolutionary gel pads. Going through surgery at the same time as her best friend, who was not a beta patient, really visualized the vast difference in recovery time. “I was walking around going to stores and she was icing constantly and didn’t leave the house for a week.”

Through research, feedback and publicity, the company of Cearna® and William P. Mack, M.D. are sure to help get this product well known out in the medical field.
