3 BOTOX MYTHS YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF

Botox is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures available today. It’s painless, provides fast results and can give the patient beautiful, wrinkle-free skin. It also is one of the safest cosmetic procedures available. However, there are some myths surrounding Botox that you should probably be aware of before trying this simple procedure.

If you stop getting Botox, your wrinkles will get worse.

This is not true. Botox works by reducing the activity of facial muscles, so as it wears off over time your wrinkles will simply return to what they were before. Botox may last longer for patients who get it at regular intervals, but gradually over time the muscles will return to their previous state.

Botox is just for wrinkles.

Botox has a surprising number of benefits, more than just ridding you of wrinkles! Botox injections are frequently used to treat migraines by reducing muscle tension. Injections can also be used to treat excessive sweating by blocking the sweat glands. Some doctors have even found that it helps to reduce depression because it interrupts feedback from the facial muscles to the brain! Warning: a side effect of these treatments is beautiful, wrinkle-free skin.

You should wait and get Botox when lines appear.

Botox is commonly being used these days for preventative treatments. They’re finding that if patients get injections before lines form, they have much better results over time. Patients sometimes even are able to stop some of the repetitive movements that cause wrinkles to begin with, such as squinting or raising their brows.
