There is no such thing as a fountain of youth, so try as we might to avoid it, we are all going to age eventually. Even the most advanced anti-aging serums can’t stop it. However, there’s a possibility that your behavior is causing you to age more rapidly. Could one of these things be causing YOU to age?
- Sun exposure.
While you should certainly make a habit of wearing sunscreen daily, regardless of where you live, there is no denying that because we live in Florida we are outside and in the sun more than residents in other parts of the country. That means we need to be even MORE diligent about wearing sunscreen every day.
Those morning commutes to work and home in the afternoon, day after day, can add up to some serious damage to your skin, causing premature aging. We recommend carrying a Colorescience Sunforgettable sunscreen applicator with you, either in your purse, your car, or at your desk in the office. With barely any color in the mineral powder, any member of the family can use it and it makes application and, more importantly, reapplication a cinch.
- Sleep.
Did you know that many of us suffer from CHRONIC sleep deprivation? For the past few years the Sleep in America polls conducted on behalf of the National Sleep Foundation have found that about 20% of Americans report that they get less than 6 hours of sleep on average, and the number of Americans that report that they get 8 hours of more has decreased.
Busy parents wake at 4 or 5 in the morning to get in a morning workout before they have to get the kids ready for school and themselves ready for work. And many of those same people stay up until midnight working or just trying to enjoy a few minutes to themselves.
The result, though, is that this lack of sleep is taking a serious toll on our bodies.
Sleep is, for example, intended to renew and repair the skin. However a lack of sleep accelerates signs of aging.
To maintain healthy-looking skin, try to get a full night’s sleep most nights and sleep on your back (sleeping on one side of your face for too long causes wrinkles).
- Dry skin.
Even though we live in a warm, humid client, some people just inherently have drier skin. Unfortunately, dry skin can cause wrinkling. Make sure that you’re keeping your skin dry in check by drinking lots of water and using a moisturizer daily.
