If you’ve seen our list of specials for the month of September, you may have noticed that Angela’s pick for the month was Microneedling, otherwise known as skin needling. This minimally invasive procedure involves the use of a device that contains fine needles (very much as it sounds).
The needles are used to puncture the skin, creating a controlled skin injury. While it sounds like injuring your skin would be a bad thing, each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. Through the process, there is improvement in skin texture and firmness as well as a reduction in scars, pore size and stretch marks.
Our staff member, Angela said, “I love my skin after my microneedling treatments. The procedure was so easy and painless. I saw results after a couple weeks. My pores are smaller and my fine lines have disappeared. My friends can’t quit complimenting me on how good my skin looks. Please call me with any questions since I’m such a huge advocate of this procedure!”
If you think microneedling might be for you, we encourage you to come by our office and learn more.
Whatever you do, however, we ask that you do NOT try this procedure at home. At-home models are widely available online. However, longer needles increase the risk of infection or scaring and hurt more. Also, if your needles are dull or somewhat skewed, you could potentially damage your face.
Microneedling should only be done by a professional who is knowledgeable, experience and has the proper equipment.
