Tampa, FL. August 15th, 2011- “Symposiums, Conferences, and Educational Programs OH MY!” –William P. Mack, M.D. has been a very busy presenter and educator the last couple of months.
In between consulting with new patients, performing surgery, and following up with post-operative patients, Dr. Mack finds time to educate the community. Whether it is potential new patients or other physicians, he presents at conferences every month which focus on his specialty of oculoplastic and facial cosmetic surgery. In addition to professional events, Dr. Mack also hosts his own monthly Facial Rejuvenation Seminar either in his office or at The Grape at International Plaza.
During the week of May 12th, 2011 Dr. William Mack attended the 2011 ASOPRS Spring Symposium in Amelia Island, Florida. The Symposium was sponsored by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS.) “Founded in 1969 to establish a qualified body of surgeons who have training and experience in this highly specialized field. The purpose of ASOPRS is to advance education, research and the quality of clinical practice in the fields of aesthetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery specializing in the face, orbits, eyelids, and lacrimal system. Dr. Mack is honored to be a fellow of ASOPRS, as there are only 550 national and international members. To help train well qualified physicians, ASOPRS sponsors several scientific meetings each year and also sponsors specialized fellowship training for postgraduate physicians who have completed an accredited ophthalmology residency.” (www.asoprs.org)
The purpose of the ASOPRS spring symposium was to provide a forum for the presentation of new concepts, techniques, and experiences in thyroid related eye disease, to provide a forum for the presentation of new concepts, techniques, and experiences in aesthetic surgery, to provide a forum for the discussion of physician advocacy, practice management, and access to care, and to provide a forum for the exchange of concepts and clinical experience in oculofacial, orbital and lacrimal surgery. As the moderator of the “Orbital Complications Panel,” Dr. Mack and his presenters: Stephen Klapper, M.D., Richard Allen, M.D., Vikram Duriraj, M.D., and Jerry Shields, M.D. covered topics such as: orbital fracture repair and vision loss, sino-orbital fistula after floor fracture repair, orbital apex tumor, and clinical pearls for orbital adnexal tumors and pseudotumor.
