According to the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce’s website, (www.tampachamber.com) “Small business is the backbone of today’s economy and plays an enormous role in the success of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. Twenty-two million small businesses employ half of the country’s workforce. They create two of every three new jobs, generate a majority of American innovations and will lead our nation and the world through the 21st century.” The Chamber also “has more than 1,200 members, 90% of which have 250 or fewer employees. Our goal is to promote the interests of these small businesses by providing programs and services that encourage professional development and to help small businesses thrive.”
Dr. Mack and staff found out at the beginning of the year that they were nominated for this prestigious recognition. After making it to the Semi-Finals last year, Dr. Mack and staff were hopeful to make it into the Final round for 2014 when they were announced Semi-Finalists again. After attending the initial meeting in April, Dr. Mack, facial and eyelid cosmetic surgeon in South Tampa, started filling out the application and writing answers to questions covering all aspects of his small business. “While I was filling out the application, I was reminded of the great staff and family we have built at the Mack Center. Answering several questions about management really showcased the strengths of our team. I’m fortunate to have such wonderful employees that aid in the success of the business.”
“Who represents the best of the best in Tampa’s small business community? Find out at the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business of the Year (SBOY) Awards, which annually pays tribute to businesses with fewer than 250 employees. This year’s awards will be handed out on September 20 at our 34th annual SBOY Awards banquet. More than 250 businesses were nominated in 2014 and are going through the judging process now. Stay tuned for the announcement of this year’s finalists!”
