Sculptra Aesthetic

Introduction

Sculptra Aesthetic Tampa

As we age, we lose volume in our face from loss of muscle, fat, and bone, and also our skin loses collagen and elastin. These changes contribute to sagging skin and the formation of wrinkles and folds. Sculptra® targets this underlying volume loss, making it a powerful option for long-term facial rejuvenation.

At The Mack Cosmetic Center in Tampa, FL, we offer Sculptra®, an advanced injectable treatment that gradually restores facial volume and softens deep wrinkles. Whether you’re seeking a refreshed appearance or long-term anti-aging support, Sculptra® offers a natural-looking solution tailored to your unique facial anatomy.

What Is Sculptra® Aesthetic?

Sculptra® Aesthetic is a facial injectable that is made from poly-L-lactic acid, which helps to replace lost collagen in the face. Rather than acting as a traditional filler like Juvederm or Restylane, Sculptra® rebuilds your skin’s inner structure over time, restoring lost volume and creating a smoother, more youthful appearance.

Sculptra® is used to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds, such as the deep folds between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds), lines from the corners of the mouth (marionette lines), chin wrinkles, and wrinkles in the cheek region.

How Sculptra® Works

Sculptra® is a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic material that physicians have used for decades. Sculptra® is injected in an average of 3 sessions over a few months.

Sculptra® Aesthetic helps replace lost collagen, providing a foundation that naturally restores the look of your face’s fullness, which has been depleted over time. Sculptra® gradually corrects facial wrinkles and folds, resulting in a youthful, rejuvenated appearance that can last more than 2 years.

Am I a Good Candidate for Sculptra?

Good candidates for Sculptra® treatments are patients who have noticed a decrease in facial volume, particularly in the nasolabial folds, cheeks, and chin.

What Are the Common Reasons Why a Patient Would Want Sculptra?

Patients typically present to The Mack Center with concerns about loss of facial volume and aging, particularly nasolabial folds, the corners of the mouth, and marionette lines below the mouth. Patients want to achieve fullness or increased volume in their faces, but while maintaining a natural appearance. This is the emphasis of The Mack Center: to provide our patients with a rejuvenated, natural appearance, and Sculptra® is the facial filler that will achieve this improvement.

Other benefits include:

  • Stimulates natural collagen production for long-lasting results
  • Gradually restores facial volume and youthful contours
  • Results can last up to two years or more
  • Improves skin texture, firmness, and elasticity over time

What’s the First Step?

During your consultation at The Mack Center, we take time to assess your facial anatomy, skin quality, and aesthetic goals. We’ll discuss your medical history and areas of concern, and determine whether Sculptra® is the most appropriate treatment for your needs.

We will create a customized plan that outlines the expected number of sessions, the treatment timeline, and what you can anticipate during and after each visit. Our team ensures that every patient is fully informed and confident before beginning treatment.

How Do I Prepare for My First Session?

Preparation is easy but important. To reduce the risk of bruising, avoid blood-thinning agents such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and alcohol for at least 3 days prior to your appointment (unless your physician has contraindicated them).

Arrive with a clean face, and avoid scheduling dental work, vaccines, or other injections within two weeks of your Sculptra® session, as these can increase the risk of swelling or inflammation. We will go over all pre-treatment instructions during your consultation to ensure a smooth experience.

What to Expect on the Day of Sculptra Treatment

Before your Sculptra® injections begin, we may apply a topical anesthetic to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. Dr. Mueller and Dr. Mack will then use fine needles or a blunt-tipped microcannula to precisely place Sculptra® into the deep dermal layer of your skin (the layer responsible for collagen production).

Each injection is carefully mapped based on your unique facial structure and the areas where you’ve experienced volume loss. Your treatment session will typically last 10 to 20 minutes, and you can return to most of your usual activities shortly after.

Your Guide to Post-Sculptra Care

Within a few days of injection, the aqueous components of Sculptra® are absorbed, and the natural swelling resolves. This will result in a temporary reappearance of the defect that had been treated. At that point, the microparticles of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), the main component of Sculptra®, will begin working in the deep dermis to replace lost collagen, reinforcing the skin’s structures and gradually restoring volume.

Post-treatment care requires patients to massage the treated areas. This will result in a more even distribution of the Sculptra® and will improve the results.

What are the Realistic Expectations of Sculptra® Aesthetic?

For patients undergoing Sculptra® treatment, realistic expectations include increased facial fullness to reinforce the collagen structure and provide a foundation for a fuller look. This will address deep facial wrinkles and folds that occur over time.
