WHAT SHOULD I DO FOR DARK EYE CIRCLES?

You pop out of bed after a restful night’s sleep, pad into the bathroom to brush your teeth and the take your first look in the mirror. There they are. In spite of your restful night’s sleep you still have dark pigmentation and hollowness under the eyes.

Unless you are a smoker or are under extreme stress, chances are that the dark circles under your eyes are genetic or are a result of facial aging.

So what do you do?

Well, fortunately, there are far more options than there used to be, and many less invasive options. If you are experiencing dark eye circles and hollowness under the eyes there are two things to address:

  1. Transparency in the skin
  2. A volume deficit

One possible solution for treating the pigmentation and transparency of the skin is Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP. PRP is a concentration of platelets from the blood that, when used for skin rejuvenation, releases growth factors to stimulate new collagen and elastin. The platelet therapy decreases the appearance of dark circles, hollowness and wrinkles, using your own cells to make your skin appear more tight and firm. The skin is more hydrated and firm at the end of 6 weeks.

To address the problem with the volume deficit, a hyaluronic acid filler like Restylane
works well. Cosmetic fillers like Restylane restore fullness to the skin to decrease facial wrinkles.

Together, these two treatments help reduce the transparency and dark circles under your eyes while simultaneously increasing fullness, making your skin look tighter and more youthful.

If you’re still not sure whether or not an injectable is right for you, we also recommend a good concealer that matches your skin tone. While it won’t create a more full appearance like a cosmetic filler, it will help to conceal the dark pigmentation under your eyes that is making you look older and more tired.

Keep in mind that there is no one size fits all treatment and that different patients have different results from treatments. The best option, if you are ready to address your dark eye circles, is to come into our Tampa office for a complimentary consultation. We are happy to help you achieve the results you want.
