Dr. Adel Alsuhaibani, an Oculoplastic surgeon from Saudi Arabia, traveled across the globe to shadow Dr. Mack in Tampa, FL. During his weeklong visit, Dr. Adel Alsuhaibani observed Dr. Mack in both the clinical and surgical settings. Dr. Adel Alsuhaibani stated that he chose Dr. Mack as he is “a well known expert in the field.” The staff as well as Dr. Mack would like to thank Dr. Alsuhaibani for spending the week visiting and also teaching them about his culture.
Next month (November) is Diabetes Awareness and Dr. Mack will be contributing 10% of all cosmetic sales as well as matching all proceeds donated by patients. During November, Dr. Mack and his staff will be promoting the Step OUT and Walk campaign, to help raise funds for diabetes. Nicole Johnson, MPH, MA, Miss America 1999, has joined forces with Dr. William P. Mack to help fight diabetes. Ms. Johnson, a resident of Tampa, FL, stated that “Dr. Mack is professional, caring and community minded! As a person with diabetes, I appreciate his willingness to give back to causes like the American Diabetes Association’s STEP OUT to Fight Diabetes.” Dr. Mack’s office will be selling autographed copies of Nicole Johnson’s books in the office to help raise money. “Living with Diabetes” and “Nicole Johnson’s Diabetes Recipe Makeovers” are available to purchase for $25 each. Debbie Gill, Dr. Mack’s RN and Office Manager, hopes to see many of our diabetic and non-diabetic patients reach out and contribute. “As the office manager/RN for Dr. Mack I was glad to see him support diabetes and team up with Nicole Johnson who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a teenager. My daughter, Caitlyn, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes two years ago and Nicole has been a true role model to Caitlyn and has given her the courage and determination to push through her battle with diabetes.” Whether it is a book purchase, small donation, or joining the staff at the walk, Dr. Mack’s office has many ways to help raise proceeds for Diabetes.
On Saturday October 15th, Dr. Mack was the featured speaker at the annual meeting of the Hillsborough Society of Optometry (HSO.) Over 125 optometrist participated in Dr. Mack’s two hour lecture at the Tampa Marriott. Following the presentation the attendees were eligible to obtain CME credits, which are necessary for their license renewal. Dr. Mack’s presentation “Oculoplastic Dilemmas: Pearls for Diagnosis and Treatment” included topics such as: upper eyelid reconstruction, lower eyelid reconstruction, eyelid cancer, and facial cosmetic procedures.
508 S. Habana Avenue will no longer be the home for Dr. William P. Mack’s practice. The big move is less than one week away and the staff is busy packing the office! Dr. Mack and his staff are excited to move into their state of the art “Mack Center” which hosts its own operating room. Dr. Mack renovated a 1923 South Tampa historical home on Azeele Street, which will have a separate building for their Esthetician, Marcia Duley. The new address is 3109 W. Azeele St., Tampa, FL 33609 and Dr. Mack will begin seeing patients out of this location on October 31st, 2011. As fast as Dr. Mack’s practice has been growing, the extra rooms will definitely be a joy to the staff, doctor, and patients!
